Explanation

Can function as a verb ("to be at/in") or as a marker of an ongoing action.

Common pattern: 正在 + verb.

Example sentences
我 wǒ 在 zài 家 jiā
I am at home.
老师 lǎo shī 在 zài 教室 jiào shì 里 lǐ
The teacher is in the classroom.
