Explanation

In time expressions it often appears as 半天, 半年, 半小时; it does not always work as "half" before any word.

Example sentences
现在 xiànzài 十点 shídiǎn 半 bàn
It is now ten thirty.
我 wǒ 等 děng 了 le 半 bàn 个 gè 小时 xiǎoshí
I waited for half an hour.
他 tā 每天 měitiān 六点 liùdiǎn 半 bàn 起床 qǐchuáng
He gets up at six thirty every day.
