Explanation

For simple numbers 二 is used, but before classifiers 两 is normally used (两个人).

Example sentences

我 wǒ 有 yǒu 二 èr 个 gè 朋友 péngyou

I have two friends.

今天 jīntiān 是 shì 二 èr 月 yuè 二号 èrhào

Today is February 2nd.

我们 wǒmen 班 bān 有 yǒu 二 èr 十 shí 个 gè 学生 xuésheng

There are twenty students in our class.
